ABOUT:
Olivia Bird started playing rugby at age seven, when she played age-group rugby with the boys. Bird burst onto the international scene in 2007, when she played for the Hurricanes Team against the Australian Women's National Team. Bird has played for Canterbury for all three seasons since moving to Christchurch, New Zealand, and is currently on a rugby scholarship at Lincoln. In addition, she is part of the New Zealand Sports Rugby Academy, renowned for its training programmes for high-caliber athletes within NZ, along with other KUSA representatives Kendra Cocksedge and Olivia Coady. In addition, Bird has played Touch Rugby at both the Club and Provincial Levels, representing in the South Island for the Under 18 Team.
Bird also rowed throughout school, acquiring several national titles and medals and rowed for the South Island Under 18 team. She has represented College National School Teams in Athletics and Cross Country as well. The strengths that Olivia contribute to KUSA are an exceedingly high work-rate, polished ball handling, and a quick learning curve. Look for this exciting player in the KUSA backline.
